No progress at all with CXG 8 and Snow Leopard; game is still unplayable.

I'm using an early 2008 Macbook Pro with the GeForce 8600M GT with 512 Mb VRAM. Now that I've upgraded to OSX 10.6 and CXGames 8.0, I thought I'd give Oblivion another go. Just installed the GOTY edition. No problems installing and launching, but the same massive graphical errors (check out my screenshots) and gameplay slowdown as previously reported still occur. When I went to check the registry settings, I noticed that there was no HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Wine / Direct3D registry key, so I added one and added these strings:

"DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl"
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo"
"UseGLSL"="enabled"
"VideoMemorySize"="512"

Is there anytheing else that should be in there? I also made these changes to my oblivion.ini file:

bForce1XShaders=0
bSaveOnInteriorExteriorSwitch=0
bUse Joystick=0
bMusicEnabled=0

I'd love to know how some of you are getting this game to run, though I suppose it is poetic justice since many are asking me the same thing about Morrowind. I can get that one running like a song.

I'm having the same problem, running Snow Leopard and using the same values in the registry as those running it fine. Although it seems they are running 10.5 not 10.6, seems like something with snow leopard is messing with this. I tried compiling wine from source and had the same problems. Although if you run it with the settings on very low, it will run better, it slows down when you look at some lighting. It looks like there are some problems with shadows or lighting. I'm running Games 8.1.3

I installed the game started a game and everything seems to work fine at least most of the game, the only complain was that the main character had some lighting problems that the whole skin looked black. Played for a while and saved the game. Next day I try to play again and the problem now is that the saved game loads but there is no rendering at all you can only see the GUI elements and the base color of the background. I tried starting a new game with the same problem.

Putting the registry entries actually makes it worse, the game hangs when is loading the saved game.
Hope this information helps.

Have you tried without HDR rendering? I know it was buggy before, I do not know if it is fixed yet.

I've tried it without HDR, it still will not run properly, extreme slowness when trying to create a character, and still after you create one and try to play. The player looks ok, but the area around you looks like it is fractured.

Clocknova, I also am on a Macbook Pro but can not install the GOTY edition due to the Securom error so many others are having problems with.
How did you get around this problem?

Some progress has been made. On 8.1.4, under snow leopard, if I disable shadows, the game becomes slightly more playable, although bland looking. If you turn on shadows, and look at a light source, there is still crazy looking effect of lines on the walls where the light would be illuminating, and the performance then takes a nose dive. Going to post a screenshot of the effect.
