i managed to install oblivion and well im not an expert in this game
but sofare it seems to work fine graphics etc
and sound is mostly ok 2, walkin music etc
only the "attack" sound seem really high (it might be the i get hurt sound) aswell
and the speakers can't seem to handle it without making a lot of noise like it is overloading ?

I get that distorted crashing sound wherever an impact sound is supposed to exist - Arm to Arm / Hand to Hand hits (dealing and receiving), items knocked and so forth.
I curious to know how to remedy that one as well.
I am also looking for a solution to this problem.
I installed the mp3 codec and got the music and voices working, but this scratching sound is ruining the whole experience.
Tried to play with Oblivion settings (using info from [link=http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion.ini#SirDrinkAlot.27s_recommendations_for_users_with_Onboard_Soundcards][/link]), without success.
Would love to be able to fix this too. everything else runs well.
This appears to be a known bug in Wine (Bug 35534).
