The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Forum

Hi all,
I installed the game on Ubuntu 11.04 from iso file and everything was going fine until the end of the intro sequence. If I let the sequence run through, I end up with a black screen but can hear some of the background noises. If I try to exit the intro sequence early, the game freezes.

I have tried many of the suggestions on the forum including editing the .ini file, but to no avail. any additional help/advice would be great.

Specs:
Ubuntu 11.4
3GB RAM
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor
NVIDIA GeFORCE 8600 GT

Hi,
in my experience Oblivion has been broken for a few versions. Try intalling Crossover Games 9.2 instead. Here it runs great in 9.2, but I get the issues you describe in 10.0, 10.1 and 10.2. (if you want to have multiple cxgames installed you can use the .run installer to install to a custom directory, and then use something like wwine http://random.zerodogg.org/wwine to run it with - that's how I do it).
