Textpad on Linux x64

I am a huge fan of Textpad and use it both on Windows and Linux. I wanted to share some useful information and a query with the community, so here goes. I am using CrossOver Pro 9.1.0 amd64 and Textpad 5.31 on Linux Mint 9 x64. Trying to install Textpad into a bottle results in the following mesage:

"Missing 32bit libnss_mdns.so.2 library: This library is needed for network and Internet access. Installing it is strongly recommended."

and the proceed button is greyed out so I cannot proceed. However, Textpad is a great little application that doesn't actually need to be installed. I installed it in Windows and then just ran the installed executable under crossover in Linux.

Unfortunately the settings are not carried over, so the license and program settings need to be re-installed but it works beautifully.

I don't think that message would prevent installation from proceeding. Are you sure there isn't something else that's missing?

You need to select something in each section of the install software window: an application profile, even if only "Other Application"; an installer source (download, an installer file, or a CD/DVD or other volume); and a bottle to install into. If you haven't selected something in each of the sections, the button will be Proceed rather than Install and will take you to the section that needs your input. If the current section is the one that needs your input, then the Proceed button will be disabled.

Hi Ken. Thanks for that, you are indeed correct. I had forgotten that I needed to set the first option to "Other Application". That allowed the installation to start, but it got stuck part way through with the message:

Program Error
The program txpeng531.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This can be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency in Wine. <etc>

Whilst this is a problem for compatibility, and the reason I rated this at only silver, the application can be run directly from its Windows installation directory, though using shortcuts to the exe cause some problems.
