Joining game issue (MAC)

Steam runs no problem. TF2 starts and I can get the server list no problem. Connect to a server, still no problem. Right after the loading progress bar thing goes away and it shows the room (usually the servers website if they have one) it gets stuck. I've tried waiting around at that point for reasonably 2~3 minutes to no avail.

I'm running a macbook (rev1,1) with 2 GB ram and Leopard. I'm also only using the trial edition of CrossOver. Any recommendations?

The video chip in a MacBook is fairly low-powered. If you haven't already tried it, I would recommend that you set your video settings to low and see if that helps at all.
