Cant start TF2

Hey. When i try to start TF2 only the loading screen appears, but only to close down short after. And then tell me that ill need directx 8.0 to run the game properly.
I know its because of my old crappy intel extreme 2 card, but can i some how fake TF2 to belive that my card are newer, and then run it anyway?

Ummmm I think your SOL on that one buy a Nvidia or ATI card
