Okay TF 2 will not launch out of Steam. I got rid of -novid and -windowed after that and tried again. I get the Steam startup video and then the game disappears. Task Manager shows that hl2.exe starts and then goes away. I can see this action happen in my processor monitor in OS X. I changed audio configurations in winecfg.exe but all my other games have benefited from that. I'll try launching the game in a forced resolution.
Ok false alarm sorry for the post. The force resolution fixed the issue.
I'm having more or less the same sounding issue, I'm wondering if you or someone else can explain your solution that fixed your issue?
Erm...If it is in linux..i think it has something to do with compiz and xgl ...
