No Servers in Server List

Just recently installed TF2 via Steam. Everything loads up great until I select "Join Server"; when the server list pops up it forever sits there saying "Refreshing Server List" but never populates with any data. I am able to play Left 4 Dead and L4D2 and join games without any problems, so I don't think that it's a Steam or firewall issue. Has anyone seen this issue or have any recommended fixes?

I am having this same issue. Everything seems to be working fine and L4D works as well. No server names are showing up in the server list.

I assume you have already tried this, but try stopping refresh, and then re-refreshing. Also, make sure you don't have your filters set too exclusively. If you are joining from steam, try joining from within the game. If you are joining from within the game, try joining directly from steam.

Tried all those things as stated in the FAQ; it does however work joining from the Steam server listed instead of trying to join from in-game.

Well that's a start, still it should work from either location.

Just wanted to post and say that I too am having this issue. I recently did an erase/install on my iMac and loaded all my apps from scratch. Everything works fine until I try and pull up the server list. My favorites are still listed [I'm guessing they're tied to your Steam account], but the main server list refuses to populate and I get the "Refreshing Server List" text, regardless of settings/region/manually stopping and starting the search.

I know this doesn't help at all but the error seems to exist in Windows as well.

I experienced this problem yesterday, too. I was searching through some Steam forums and I saw a few users mention that (for whatever reason) switching the "skin" of the Steam GUI from default to "Flat - Grey", and then re-starting Steam fixed this issue. At least in my case, this did the trick. Upon launching Steam again (in a fun new color scheme) the server population worked fine in TF2. I switched back to the default colors, and its still working. Beats me as to why this is happening, but this fix apparently works for some people on Windows and CX Games Mac.

i switched skins and restarted Steam and now all is well. pretty odd glitch..
