Hi all,
I've found that I can get TaxCalc to work apparently flawlessly on CrossOver.
I tried it first in a new bottle. It seemed to install OK without error from 'taxcalc_10.06.05.exe', a downloaded installation file, and the installer allowed for automatic registration over the internet. The application also seemed to start running OK, produced menus, and seemed to allow the loading of a data file. However, the display area of the application window was completely blank.
I then tried installing TaxCalc in a bottle that already holds IE6, as suggested in the 'Unsupported tips' forum, and it works!
I've tested it with an existing tax return file; it updates, saves and reloads without any problems. All the calculation sheets seem to operate properly. It prints better than it does from my Parallels installation. And the icing on the cake - it properly uploaded the file in test mode and for real to the HMRC site for on-line filing. [Now all I've got to do is pay the tax ;-( ]
I've ranked it Silver; it would have been Gold but I haven't tested creating a new file and there are one or two trivial display flaws. However, these are fewer and less conspicuous than display flaws in Quicken 2004, which otherwise also works well.
I trust this is helpful.
