Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 - Launch of the Screaming Narwhal Forum

I would LOVE to play ToMI on my MacBook Pro, but unfortunately all the tricks to let it run will not work if you're not buying the Steam version of the game.
(I've bought the complete season directly from Tell Tale.)

Did anybody find a way to let also this version run?

I actually managed to get it to run on my MacBook with Snow Leopard in CrossOver Games 8.0.0, but it's a whole process.
What OS and CrossOver Games version are you using?

Here's what I did:

1) In CrossOver Games 8.0.0, I created a bottle with IE6 ( using the instructions in the Telltale trick on the tips & tricks page for Tales of Monkey Island at http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=5814;tips=1 ) and installed the game in it.
2) I installed CrossOver Games 7.2.2 on my computer (in a different folder than the one in which I have 8.0.0) and got it to run following the instructions on the following page: http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/CXOffice7underSnow
3) I launched the bottle for the game in CrossOver Games 7.2.2 and unlocked the game via serial number, as all my attempts to log into my Telltale account from the launcher were unsuccessful.
In order to locate the box in which to enter the serial number, you first have to click (semi-) randomly in the middle of the right half of the launcher until two boxes appear asking for your login name and password (clicking randomly may lead you to a screen offering you to buy one episode or the whole season; just click on the button in the bottom-left corner to come back to the main screen).
Then, you have to click right above those boxes until a single box appears requesting your serial number.
Enter the serial number and click on the button (which might have just disappeared) just underneath the right end of the box and the game will unlock.

After this, the game should in CrossOver Games 7.2.2 and 8.0.0 (it does for me!).

I had just half of the trouble, because I'm not yet using SnowLeopard and CrossoverGames 7.2.2 just installed and started immediately.
The biggest problems I had finding the right spot to click at for entering the serial number.
If you are asked to enter your user and pwd you've won. just klick centered, above the box asking for user/pwd. If you tried to enter user/pwd and the box already disappeared, you can get it back in clicking somewhere slightly inside the right half of the starting app. (This is in the left third of the part with the brighter background.) Best worked for me to start fairly low and then clicking upwards in 2-3 mm steps. (Give it 2 sec. before clicking again.)
If he starts the game you've been to far up, if he opens a browser showing you games you might want to buy you've been to far to the right.

Glad you got it to work.
I had been using the games (not just TOMI, but all other Telltale series except for Wallace & Gromit) in 7.2.2 since July with no problem and I'm pretty sure they were still working in 8.0.0 before I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
However, once I upgraded, they would not launch anymore and I had to re-install them in brand new bottles.
Whereas the login name / password combination was enough to unlock them in Leopard, it definitely did NOT work (for me) in Snow Leopard and I had to play with the launcher until I found the box allowing me to enter the serial number.
Should you decide to upgrade to Snow Leopard (someday), could you let me know (in this thread) if you had to do the same thing?
