Software rendering ?

Hello,

I'm trying out the demo to see if I can get System Shock 2 running. The goods news is that it does, but unfortunately the performance is disappointing considering it's only a DX 6 game, when compared to Half-Life, for example. My guess is that it's a DirectX issue because it looks as if it's only running with software rendering. I tried installing it into my Steam bottle in case there were any optimisations included, but it hasn't helped. Next I'm going to try copying all the d3d dlls into the bottle's System32 folder, which I'd seen suggested on threads by people trying to get EVE working.

Is there anything else I can try, or is it just pot luck whether Crossover Direct3D works with a particular game ?

Ian

Looking through hints and tips for some other games I saw a recommendation to set a games colour depth to 24-bit, however System Shock 2 only supports 16 bits. Could this be a problem ?
