Setting usp10.dll to native helped me with crossover games mac version 7.2.1.
Works nearly flawlessly as far as I can tell.
The usp10 library fix also worked for me, but explored planets were black. which made the game mostly unplayable.
The fix for me, was to tweak the Display options in SotS to Trilinear filtering, and everything else according to the 'Reccomnd' button.
Plays like a dream now!

How do I do that?

Although this is no longer necessary in Crossover 9.0, you would do that from the libraries tab in winecfg, as with any other library overrides (Manage bottles -> Control panel -> Wine configuration -> Libraries).
