The Steam release of Super Laser Racer installs correctly via Steam,
and the game does work 'out of the box' as it were, but it has a
few issues you should be aware of ;
=> The game launcher (when you first start the title) is hardcoded
to a resolution of 640x480 -- here, you can change the resolution of
the ingame screen resolution, but the launcher itself will always be
in 640x480 mode.
=> Although the game may claim that it has found your (USB) connected
gamepad, it doesn't seem to recognize any input from such devices in
linux -- mouse & keyboard input works fine. To work around this in linux,
you can remap your gamepad inputs using 'qjoypad' and use your gamepad
with Super Laser Racer in this fashion. Note: this is pretty much similar
behavior to the Steam version of Alien_versus_Predator Classic 2000 game.
Mac users might take a look at the following thread for ideas on how to
get gamepads working with this title as well...see;
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=5086;forum=1;msg=72305
=> Some of the game's graphic overlays (notably power-ups, weapon pick-ups
and so forth) are not rendered correctly, and appear ingame as plain gray
objects. These things still work, and it doesn't really affect the gameplay
all that much in practice.
Gets a silver medal for now -- hopefully this will improve as crossover/wine
matures with time...
Cheers!
