Just as the title says. I'm on a mid-2015 mac with OS 10.14 and it just refuses to connect after deleting the versioning keys that made it work before when it was XP. I'm trying to play some games that obviously don't and won't support mac or any other platform for that matter but it just doesn't want to work. The friends window just times out, and the store never loads. Things also just don't install either because the servers are unreachable...

Unfortunately, the latest update to Steam broke some compatibility with CrossOver Mac. We are currently working on a fix for the Steam store failure that you describe. If you would like to be notified when this bug is fixed, you can file a ticket using the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page and your ticket will be added to our internal bug tracker.
The "server content unreachable" failure when trying to install games is a separate bug. This bug happens quite inconsistently, so it is possible that quitting the bottle and relaunching Steam several times will fix the failure. You can also use the workaround described in comment #4 from this WineHQ bug.

Well that fixes being unable to install games that worked before seemingly. But it seems games that require 7 or newer still don't work(like planet coaster) since they report invalid platform despite trying to install in this instead...
Edit: reinstalled and put it on a 64-bit bottle and now able to install at least planet coaster(doesn't run, but it works to install at least...)
