Sounds like something is up with the "CrossOver HTML engine". You can try reinstalling that by going into your Bottle Manger in the CrossOver GUI. Note, you will need to uncheck the Hide Service Packs and dependencies in the CrossOver prefs if you are on the Mac.
Was the bottle created with CrossOver 6.1 or earlier? There was a bug in earlier versions of CrossOver that prevented registration of some DLLs when the bottle was created. The white screen in the Steam GUI was a common symptom of that problem. This should be fixed with CrossOver 6.2, so that bottles created with that version don't have the problem.
