Steam doesn't seem to detect any input from my internal microphone. I'm using Crossover Games 7.1.1 on a Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo. The mic works fine in Team Fortress 2.

Yes, this is a known limitation of our current Core Audio driver. Steam tries to open the audio device twice simultaneously. This is usually allowed on Windows, but doesn't work in CrossOver/Wine.
If our Core Audio driver supported DirectSound mode natively, then Steam would take a different approach and wouldn't encounter this problem. Improving the Core Audio driver in this way is on our task list.
