For Bethesda Games on Steam or Otherwise, there tend to be issues with the graphics and/or sound in the game. Bugs are greatly reduced through a process which I refer to as “The Bethesda Audio Override” Through this process, you largely install the files that the installers failed to install to get the game running.
The Following Bethesda Games on Steam are known to be improved by this process.
1) The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
2) Fallout 3 GOTY
3) Fallout New Vegas
4) The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
5) Fallout 4 GOTY
6) Fallout 4 Vanilla
the following games are untested and if you are a BetterTester or on the forums, it would be helpful if you shared and described your testing Results on these Untested Bethesda Games
1) Fallout 76
2) The Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind
3) The Elder Scrolls Online
Now that we have covered the games affected, let’s take a look at how the procedure works
1) Go into the Wine Configuration for Steam, and then into the “Libraries” Tab.
2) Add the following files by carefully typing into the entry and clicking to “Add Library”, then hitting “Apply” followed by “Okay”
x3daudio1_6
x3daudio1_7
xaudio2_6
xaudio2_7
3) Now with these files added to Steam, Bethesda games should have significantly fewer bugs and crashes in them on Steam.
