Solution:
Bring up steam in finder and rename the app "CrossoverSteam.app" or similar.
Another bug is that steam:// links inside Steam for Mac will launch Crossover Steam. A fix for this is to use an application called RCDefaultApp (Google it) to change the default application url handler from CXG Steam to OSX Steam.
