Small Stata 11 seems to work. The only way I found to get it to install sucessfully was to first install IE6 and Windows Installer into a new win98 bottle. Without those the installer failed completely or the installation appeared to finish but the menu entry for the application failed to appear. Note that there are native Linux and MacOS X versions of regular Stata. Small Stata (which is Windows-only) is a limited version for educational use only, much cheaper than regular Stata (even with educational pricing).
