When first installing the game using the 9.1.0 installer, I had audio for about the first five minutes. After that, it cut out... and while the game continued to install, there was no audio during installation and the installer stopped telling me its little back story.
Once I started playing the game, I again had audio for about five minutes, after which time it cut out. Audio would start every time the game was restarted, but I would hear punctuated audio glitching and lose all sound after about five to ten minutes each time.
The audio held up longer after a full reboot of the computer, and the glitching was gone, but I would still lose it for no apparent reason.
To fix this, I switched from ALSA to OSS in the bottle's wine config (running Ubuntu 10.04 on this computer). Since doing so, audio has been consistent for about 2 hours or so.
The only other problem I've noted so far is some black blocky lines where graphics should be. I only get these lines in the armory and during armory cut-scenes: all of the other areas render fine, and the in-game graphics are seamless. This game runs extremely well on my machine with all graphic/audio options maxed right out. All in all, I have to say this is an incredible result for a top tier game, immediately after the release, running on an OS it was never intended to run on. I wasn't going to buy this game until I read about the 9.1.0 update in my e-mail this morning, but I sure am glad I did.
Thanks and big props out to the Codeweavers team!!
