Hi there,

Using Ubuntu maverick 10.10,
I have unmounted and remounted the DVD with the commands provided (such as in the 'Tips&Tricks' section) to show the windows partition. I'm assuming this was successful as I didn't have any errors and the DVD files were found afterwards at the mount point.

I have Crossover Games 9.2 installed, (and wine 1.2.1 if that helps?)
After searching for the 'Starcraft 2...' supported application, selecting it and proceeding, I then select the 'SC2-L100-D1' DVD method and 'Install'. I click 'register later' as i'm testing the trial version. Visual C installs, at which point i click 'finish' to begin the SC2 installation. It immediately reports an error:

"An error occurred while running the 'Installing StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty' task
The installer has exited but StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty does not seem to be installed"

I can provide the log if necessary, though i'm unable to debug it myself and don't have any leads from the above error.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 11.04 Natty ( Linux Mint 11)

What windows version do you have the bottle set to?

Another user had this issue and we eventually resolved it. Try creating a completely new bottle using the StarCraft II application profile.

Was it failing as soon as it launched the installer.exe?

IIRC - I had the same issue - but I was able to use cxrun and run installer.exe in the same bottle I was trying to regular install, no problem.

can you give us the exact command u used and a the output of the mount command?

as far as i can tell Crossover the installer won't work under Crossover Games Version 9.2, i've tried it a few times and it won't install localy so i guess its a general behavior of Crossover Games 9.2, if you could upgrade to version 10 the installer itself would work flawless.

You can copy a version installed under a Windows (VM or Realmachine doesn't matters) but as far i saw myself Version 9.2 got quite some Problems with Starcraft 2 which are already fixed in Version 10.x

In actual version it won't work, too.

I can't install from DVD (DirectX install failed, after that "SC2 Install failed"( - but he installed nothing.

Why not upgrade to the latest crossover games?
