Installing Starcraft and then the Brood War expansion went perfectly. Tested the game and worked perfectly in single player mode. Connected to Battle.net and installed the latest update. The game crashes when going in to battle.net after updating. Single player campaigns and custom scenarios work perfectly. Multi-player on LAN not tested.
Did you download the installer from the battle.net store? I lost my cds and wanted to play again and was force to go that route. I have the same problem. Because it's a downloader I have no iso file or any cd to do any of the other fixes. The error I get right when the login in flashes is there is a problem with the program or a deficiency with wine.
I've been doing some reading and found out that there is a java problem as in it's not there. I tried installing java with codeweaver and couldn't get it to work. I found out that Windows Openoffice runs with a lot of java and has java install while installing the entire program. So I installed the windows version of Openoffice and then I saw java in the applications tab when you open manage bottles. Also found out that the Microsoft .Net Framework helps "Translates" different progamming lang. into java so I installed all the Microsoft .Net Framework that crossover had starting with v1 just incase I installed v3 and then getting that message a newer version is already install. Don't know if you need all three but my windows pc's have all three so I did it. After all that I got into Battle.net!!! It's not pretty but it worked and got me going.
