Hi everyone,
I 've just install SWTOR on a OSX Lion build with the supported version of crossover but I can't get off the white launcher.
The first time i've install the game, the launcher run normally, update itself and then a white/black (it depend) screen (see screenshot below)
I use a MAc OSX Lion 10.7.4
Intel i7 2700K
16Go Ram
Nvidia 470 GTX (EVGA SC Edition)
that's the same issue I'm having; seems that something in the code was changed in the launcher update causing a box that was rendering as white before to now render in the colors of the game and the one with the log in prompts etc that was loading properly to load as a blank white box.
This is what I get:
Using CX 11.2
2.4GHz Macbook
Intel GMA X3100
3Gb RAM
I see the same thing that Sean Knutson does, though the background on mine picks up whatever's on the "layer" beneath it:
CrossOver 11.0 (SWTOR-specific unupported build)
Linux Mint 12
Kernel 3.0.0-12-generic
Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 (x2 in SLI) with driver 295.53
AMD Phenom II X4 965
16GB DDR3
Same here, the unsupported swtor build. Running a quad core q6600, 4gb ram, radeon 4850. Linux Mint Debian
When you tail the logs, I notice there's an error updating the launcher:

This might be the cause of it…
any luck yet? i used to use CXG a lot a year ago but was out of the country for a bit and i had to switch to the trial version again. I got it specifically for SWTOR but my 14 days are just being wasted.
Hmm, well apparently the launcher patch changed some of the text on the login screen, to account for trial players, not sure if that would cause this graphical bug, but that's my best guess since it's still not working though I got an email from them saying that emergency maintenance was supposed to fix the issue PC users were having.
Same Issue for me; it installs fine, then updates the launcher and just a black window. I even decided to wait to see if maybe it would come up eventually. It never did.. Well after almost an hour, I gave up. Any update on a fix yet? I'm tired of logging into Windows 7 :(
Not sure if this helps, but I have been working through some of the troubleshooting on SWTOR.com since this seems to also have been an issue on Native machines. It keeps trying to patch and fails; here's the log information:

Create a script to run it as follows..
#!/bin/sh
cxoffice/bin/cxrun --bottle SWTOR explorer /desktop=launcher.exe,1000x615 "/home/asharin/.cxoffice/SWTOR/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/BioWare/Star Wars-The Old Republic/launcher.exe"
fi
Obviously changing the paths to the ones you have :)
It's creating a desktop with the same size as the launcher, which pushes the graphics into the right position..of course this will make swtor run in a desktop window (but you aren't stuck with 1000x615 don't worry..well I wasn't anyway)
It's a bit of a kludge but worked for me, I based it off a similar script from Wineappdb for a patched wine :)
for those not tech savy, you can also have crossover create a virtual desktop with those dimensions, at least to launch, going to see if I can get it to then adjust normally after.
Can't get this to work. I cannot locate the cxrun file. The only file similar to the run part of the binary is cxstart. But that doesn't work with the supplied options (changed to the local settings ofcourse…)
Also the path of your script is relative instead of absolute. Maybe if you make that absolute, it can be clarified…
Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for the obvious..you know it never even crossed my mind lol. I may as well remove my entire post as this is much easier and works EXACTLY the same way... :) I guess I just got stuck in the technical side....
Thanks again :D
So to clarify, to get a launcher you can see, change the settings for the bottle to use a virtual desktop of 1000x615, and the launcher should display correctly. The game will be run in virtual desktop mode, but at least it will run, and won't be restricted to 1000x615 either (I was playing at 1440x900 - my monitor's max resolution(upgrade needed!))

perfect. this got the launcher up and running! thank you.
i'm just logging in for the first time ever, now. The spinny thing on the bottom corner just keeps going, i hope it's updating or something, been quite a while. will keep everyone posted. thanks again

So did it work? Mine is currently doing the same thing.

that worked yes to get past the launcher. I can get through the intro video and everything but it stays loading for a long time. don't know if it's frozen or what the loading icon still spins...
Ok, with the virtual desktop I'm able to run the launcher and wait for the patching to complete…
Let's see how far this is working…

It can take a long time to load.
It's working fine for me, though the game seems a little crash happy compared to how it used to be...

thanks. will give it another shot today
Able to get past the launcher, and even to the character screen, unfortunately I can't seem to change the resolution of the virtual desktop after that so the game is effectively unplayable. What I can do though, assuming I can get past error 208 a second time, is change my desktop resolution to 800x600 then switch it back to normal, which seems to be the best result I've gotten so far.
left the game loading for more then 2 hours today. couldn't even make it to the character screen 😥
Ok, finally everything is installed patched (and fixed again) and got post some 208 errors.
But know the game is loading and loading…it doesn't say what and for how long (the thing on the right keeps rotating though)…
Hi there!
Got the Launcher Error 208, connection error while patching. How did you manage to avoid this?
I am using a Mac and Crossover 11.2 official.
Thanks!

i just kept retrying the patcher. eventually i got past it but the game loads into the abyss...
Sadly, I'm having the same issue (lots of 208 errors) post update, using the custom crossover build for swtor.
I've tried many of the solutions provided, including removing the patch version information, and forcing a re-fetch of all assets, removing the patch directory and having the same. Ultimately, i still end up with the 208 error. Not sure how to proceed.
And just as I write this, I get in. It seems to be hit and miss, this 208 thing. :(
c
And nope... I don't even get the loading screen after (I had re-sized my screen to 1000x615, which helped with the launcher, but now just empty)
Still can't get past error 208, however, if you change your screen resolution to 800x600 (or the appropriate one for the launcher) then turn it back to normal the launcher becomes visible. So if we can get past error 208 it should be workable.
Launcher updated with the virtual desktop, opened up my FireWall settings and the 208 errors seemed to have stopped (allowing Crossover, SWTOR, and Wine). I was excited when the intro video played and the loading screen came up. I knew it was going to take a while but it has been at the loading screen for over an hour so my hopes have been squashed. Anyone else have any luck actually getting into the game?
I am quite disappointed by Crossover's silence on this issue since it first appeared on 07/10. The only fix we've received so far has been user-driven, and I haven't seen my experience bar in 3 weeks (without going to a resolution from 2004, that is) thanks to being stuck in a WINE window.
What's up, Crossover staff? Why haven't we seen anything from you folks on this?

My apologies. The issue cropped up during a steady stream of vacations, our Support Staff was stretched rather thin. Not that it is an excuse but it certainly is a reason. By the time we had tested the issue in-house and confirmed a workaround the community here had already done the same.
Our developers are working on a permanent solution to submit to Wine which will work its way into future releases of CrossOver. When that work is complete and the patch is accepted into Wine we would consider spinning a new version of the build that makes SWTOR work. Until then, the workaround has been well flushed out by the community and we are in your debt for helping each other in our absence.
Thank you!
Thank you for the information, Caron, but now a whole month has passed and there has been no further communication regarding this issue, nor any visible developments to fix it. Please provide us with a fresh status as I'm sure most of us yearn for a full-screen experience again.

The sad truth about development is that it often takes more than a month to implement new features. I have not forgotten about this but I have no new information to give. The issue plaguing Star Wars: The Old Republic is very difficult because it requires quite a bit of new implementation to fix it. I'm afraid we are looking at several months as a guess-timated ETA for a solution.
My sincerest apologies.
The following page gives a workaround for the standard version of wine.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31186
I was able to take this solution and adapt it to crossover for my needs by doing the following.
1.) create a batch where you like in the bottle for star wars the old republic
2.) inside the batch file add the following
explorer /desktop=SW:TOR,1000x615 /path_to_launcher/launcher.exe
For those unfamiliar with Unix and the terminal you can also do this each time.
1.) open crossover and click programs then click run command
2.) select the bottle for star wars the old republic
3.) click browse
4.) when the window opens double click program files, then double click electronic arts, then double click bio ware, the double click the old republic folder then double click launcher.exe
5.) click with your mouse just before the line that was added beginning with "/Users" and paste or type exactly the following.
explorer /desktop=SW:TOR,1000x615
make sure to add a space after 1000x615
6.) click run (save command to programs menu will not work)
The real key seems to be running launcher with "explorer /desktop=SW:TOR,1000x615".
After downloading the game it will not launch on my system at least. I get an error C7 incompatible system after clicking play in the launcher. I cannot seem to find a reference to this anywhere even on winehq.
This step was required to get past the "system unsupported" message.

It's now January 14, 2013. How's it looking for the supported wine build?
Any ideas?
I'm still having issues with the launcher. It loads, and I've gone into the settings and emulated a virtual desktop and emulated a reboot to make sure it worked, and I still get this:
Ok i got past the c7 error but now i get black screen with gui when i change to disable i get c7 error help!
