Release Client still doesnt work

I got in with the first wave of prelaunch folks.

Bad news, the game hangs at the same stage it did during the last beta. All of the intro video is blacked out, but you can hear the sound. The splash screen before you load into your server or choose a server halts.

It might also be worth noting that when the splash screen and black screen for the intro videos is displayed, the Mac OS top and bottom toolbars overlay on the screen. I have a feeling that even if you could log in and actually play the game that these bars would still exist

Theres no spinning blue wheel that shows its loading like it should (on the PC). So for now, SWTOR will not play using Crossover Games 10.2 on a mac

I had the same black screen pop up after login, except no music, it just freezes.

I got stuck at the loading screen during closed Beta. When I ran the task manager it said the program was non-responsive.

During the Early Access today I managed to get further, viewing a cinematic video, and then it stuck at the loading screen again. However this time, when I move the mouse around the screen I get a clicking sound as to suggest a menu of some sort (most likely a Server Select screen), even tho visually I was at a loading screen. (Task Manager claimed program was working) So it's an improvement at least...

I'm still investigating a work around, but in the mean time I'm setting up BootCamp and trying it through that with Windows 7.

I got into early access today. I can patch and log in fine, I get to see the intro cinematic just fine, but things seem to freeze up at the logo screen with the blue throbber in the bottom right corner.

So close, yet so far heh..

Same here. (Running Ubuntu Oneiric)

I'm getting the same thing as everyone else is claiming.

ubuntu 11.10/64bit

I have LMDE/64bit too but something is not configured correctly on it and i can't even start
the install. just as an fyi

You guys might already know this but i think that the reason this game won't run in crossover is because you're missing the needed runtime support components. I installed the game client, patched it, hit play and stayed at the loading screen. When i installed Directx 9 i made to the loading screen after the intro trailer. so my guess is that you would need to have all the runtime components to run the game.

..not even close - the game will not run in the current version
of crossover. The current version of crossover is based on the
wine-1.3.9 release -- this game only just started working (of
sorts) in wine-1.3.33 after a bug was fixed, and by all reports
it's not running as well on Mac as it does in linux.....

... if you want to get anywhere with this game right now, you
will need to install wine-1.3.34 and try that ...

... and to stop further speculation, you will not be able to patch
the current CXG release with the required wine fixups ; wine-1.3.9
is 12months behind wine-1.3.34 ... too much code has changed...

Cheers!

Please Don, can you tell me how to modify Wine's version from 1.3.9 to 1.3.34 ? With all the steps, from crossover ? I'm a noob for programmation and I really want to play swtor on my mac.. Thx so much.

Hi...

...you need to reread what I typed above...here,
I'll cut&paste it for you and add some highlighting...

..Uh-huh?... <grin>... it's simply too much work, and possibly
a waste of time (due to changes introduced by crossover patches)
-- you'd be unlikely to get any result akin to those obtained in
wine pure. Rather, if you were an advocate, you could try the latest
nightly build - but be warned, those builds have the potential to
fry your crossover installation, and are only intended for those
folks who are comfortable with software operations/recovery methods...

...personally, on the Mac, I use wine pure via MacPorts... however,
you do have a few alternatives... see;

http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX/Installing

Cheers!

Can't you just install Wine v1.3.34 in addition to Crossover and run both?

..of course you can, both live happy beside each other...

Fix this http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29168
And it will work :)

It is working for me and I got the free trial atm the servers are down though.

I can not even get it to install it gives me an error when running the installer claiming that there is an XML configuration error

You will need to start with the build specifically for SWTOR.
