I have been successful at installing the game on my system. I can login without problems. The launcher screen does not crash either which is significant progress.
However, once I get to the logo screen I do not see the blue orb nor does my icon change. The game freezes at this point.
This has been reported at Wine but I wanted to do so here too.

1: I renamed both
LoadingIconAnim.dds
LoadingScreen.jpg
to
LoadingIconAnim.dds.old
LoadingScreen.jpg.old
2: I forced the library to use dxd9_36.dll
3: Turned off WiFi after pushing play button
4: Tried using a fresh account without any characters
I tried variations on each of these workarounds to no success.
