SWTOR not working on Debian testing

I always get "Unable to retrieve patch data. Please check network connection. (206)".

I've tried all the Windows TOR advice - I can get it from reinstallation past the launcher can't patch itself stage... back to this error. :(

What does UnzipFailed mean? I think it's trying to unpack an encrypted ZIP. I found a thread from 2012 suggesting that a similar error was due to certificate problems.

More details: this is what I sent to Crossover support, who I suspect will tell me that it's unsupported. :) Might give some ideas though..

Star Wars: The Old Republic does not work. I install it with the provided recipe, and launch it as instructed so that the launcher can patch itself. The launcher is stuck forever on "The launcher is being updated. Please wait.". I think it is trying to download the patch via BitRaider - ugh. I can fix this by using the launcher repair utility. Then it gives "Unable to retrieve patch data. Please check network connection. (206)".

I've also tried this with wine-staging 5.11. I'm trying to get help through the vendor but that seems unlikely.

I think it is failing to unzip a file. I believe the manifest is an encrypted zip file, I've looked at the WINEDEBUG=relay output but it looks to me like all the Crypt* fun is well before it starts playing with the manifest. AppArmor is installed but Crossover is unconfined (and turning AA off for Wine also makes no difference).

This is Debian Bullseye i.e. testing.

While it is unsupported, any ideas would be greatly appreciated, it's important to me because of family reasons. I have been over many many pages of Windows advice and tried many things on related errors but I can't reasonably expect tech support for Wine from them. I don't have any networking problems, and the file in question I am able to download in a browser.

Here is the message I sent to SWTOR tech support:

I am unable to launch SWTOR. Reinstalling does not fix the problem, even with BitRaider disabled. I have seen the endless threads on related problems and tried most of the solutions suggested, including LauncherRepairUtilityD2020.0.6.exe.

I appreciate that you can't actually provide support for Wine, however this looks like a Windows-level problem. Any input you can give on what the logs actually mean would be helpful; one of the more promising avenues was that it might be a certificate error. I do not have access to a Windows machine and am not going to buy one just to run this game, but I've been a subscriber for years and hope to continue that.

On my existing install, the launcher always says "Unable to retrieve patch data. Please check network connection. (206)". The log shows:

If I reinstall from scratch, I get "The Launcher is being updated. Please wait...". Which also goes on forever. The logs show:

I think what this means is that it's trying to download the patcher over BitRaider, even though I've turned off BitRaider?

Any help welcome, though I'll try the forums too.
