It's failure on my system

I'm running Kubuntu 9.10 on an Athlon X2 5400+, 2GB Ram, Geforce 7600 GT. After checking out some of the required specs I see that my video card is not necessarily going to work for this game anyway, but the problem comes in before that is an issue. Immediately after starting the game it complains about not having any Virtual Memory enabled. So basically for this to work cx would have to show the swap partition to the game as the place for Virtual Memory (or even a pagefile.sys on the bottles C: drive). I'm not sure how hard that would be to implement.

Hi,

Yes, I've seen this error before (albeit rare) - I have seen a registry_fix
for virtual_mem over at winehq (a few actually, some employ copying a native
pagefile.sys into the wine_env...others do it via regedit only}. This will be
arduous, but you could try browsing thru the following results...;

http://www.winehq.org/search/?cx=partner-pub-0971840239976722%3Aw9sqbcsxtyf&cof=FORID%3A10&ie=UTF-8&q=virtual+memory&siteurl=appdb.winehq.org%252FobjectManager.php%253FsClass%253Dversion%2526iId%253D16280#785

You might be able to bangle together a workaround from informations there,
but I haven't tried it myself...good luck!

Cheers!

I found that there was a fairly "easy" fix to this at winehq's appdb. Surprisingly enough it was under the heading "Star Wars The Force Unleashed..." so I retrieved the virtualmem.reg file here

, saved it on my desktop, ran regedit from cx's run command and imported it into SWTFU's bottle. it seems to have worked, although my vid card is a bit insufficient and not technically supported by the game itself so everything was a bit choppy, It seems time for me to get a new video card.

Well done! That was the reg_key I was referring to which seemed
to 'work for most people' - apols for missing the fact it was
actually on the 'right' page over at WineHQ ...you get that (;

Once you're all done checking things out, might I ask you to consider
hoisting a tip&trick containing this information please? Such will
help in the process of creating an installation template for this title
in the future.

Cheers!

I'm too installing this video game, but I'm doing so withing mac osx 6.0 or Snow Leopard. I use the vista wine to install but just when it starts to install .net 3.5 then it stays frozen and does nothing else. Upon further checking the installer does nothing and I've done this 3x without any hope of it getting ever installed. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Nobody else seems to have mentioned this need for .NET 3.5 as being
part of the installation process -- even if this were so, .NET 3.x is
not yet working in crossover/wine.

What exactly do you mean by 'I use the vista wine to install' ? What
type of bottle are you installing into? Also, which release of this
title are you referring to...I believe there's both disc based and
digital download versions of this game..

Cheers!

I did the fix, and it seemed to help, but when I open the game, it won't get past a white screen.
I'm using Crossover Games 8.14 for Mac.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I'll also post this on the general forums. I think there's a somewhat bigger chance of it getting noticed there...
