Help me run this game!

I'm not sure how to update the drivers to get KOTOR II running properly.

After a successful installation of the game and after clicking on the "Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords.app" the splash screen loads with the options GAME, CONFIGURE, UPDATE, REGISTER, and EXIT. Selecting CONFIGURE shows me the options there including a button to SCAN HARDWARE. This scan returns an error stating that "There was an error retrieving your system configuration," and has an option to view a detailed report. Viewing said report offers another error message stating "The video drivers installed on this computer do not meet the requirements… Do you wish to go to the Internet to download new drivers for your video card now?" Clicking YES sends me to: h††p://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html and displays the aforementioned details:

OS: Passed
CPU: Passed
RAM: Passed
HD: Passed
Video: Failed Error -- [] 256MB Your current video card drivers are out of date NVidia cards require Detonator 45.23 drivers or better

I have a 2.4GHz iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo) with 2GB of memory, with an ATI Radeon HD2600 256MB. I'm certain that's more than enough to run the program, but I'm not sure how to set things up so KOTOR II knows it. Somebody help!

Thanks in advance.

Is the Configure -> Scan Hardware step necessary? Does the game complain or fail to work if you just proceed to try to play it?

Are you using Crossover for Mac, or Crossover Games? I found that the game will not load properly if run under Crossover for Mac.

Also, how did you get to the Configure screen? I mean, I can run the game and everything, but once I try to enter the Configure screen from the launcher, my entire computer (Mac Book Pro, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo + 2 GB of RAM) freezes and I unfortunately have to force shut-down (by means of holding down the power button).

Don't use the auto configure screen from launcher. Do it manually.
Look at Tips and tricks section.

Okay.
I followed steps in the Tips & Tricks section to play the movies, but apparently I'm going to the wrong configure screen. Can you please explain how to do it manually? Is it in winecfg and I just missed it? Thanks.

Check first if you're using CrossOver Games 7.2. If you do please install 7.1.x version. With 7.2 the game will crash after the startup menu.

If you need to change the graphic configuration of KOTOR2, run the game and click "Configure" in the startup menu. There you can set graphics (try with low), and some other things. But dont use the auto configure option it always will fail. Then just apply the changes and play the game.

If you want to play the game with cinematics yes, you have to enable the virtual desktop from winecfg (that means that you can't play KOTOR 2 in fullscreen mode).

If you want to play it without cenematics then run KOTOR 2, click in to Configure option at startup menu and check the box that says "Disable movies".

I am running Crossover Games 7.1.1, but the game runs fine. I enabled the virtual desktop at 800x600, which is fine for me. The only real problem I have is when I click "configure" from the startup menu, my entire laptop freezes up. I have no problem running the game as is, except that I can't see the mouse unless I click. I was just wondering if I could fix that in the "configure" menu.

if opening configure crashes your game, try running the executable swconfig.exe in the bottle. it should have an "enable hardware mouse" tick box. untick it.

I have this exact same problem as well, i have a fairly new computer with brand new graphic card. It has a vista operating system so that migh be a problem but i dont think so. When i try to play the game, it automatically scans the hardware and wont work unless it does. i have tried changes the setting to as low as possible, i have downloaded the nvidia update it said to download and it still doesnt work!! i dont understand what to do.

btw my computer is an new hp model, it has nvidia 8500 gt video drivers.

Have you read the tips&tricks for this app? -

There isn't Crossover for Windows.
The main goal of Crossover and Wine is let you run applications from Windows in Linux and Mac. Run Windows applications at Windows... that's dont make sense.

If you're running windows - as i understood you do - just install the game normally.

i did, but it doesnt work

HERE it's you're answer
