SWG Graphics

SWG works with crossover on my mac book pro.....the only issue i am having is all of the characters in the game have black faces....anyone know how to fix this?

thanks

I'm new to Crossover. I've installed the trial version of Crossover Games. I'm on day 2 of the 7 day long trial, and so far I've only tried SWG. It works great. I too have the issue with black faces ingame. The issue affects humans only, at least that is what I've gathered so far. The other races look fine. I would also know how to fix this issue.

Btw, for those who might want to try SWG: I installed it in Crossover Games in a Win2k bottle, as that is what was recommended by other Mac users here. However after installing the SWG trial (quick and easy), I ran into an odd problem that prevented me from registering the trial. I was sent to Sony's Station.com service where I had to log in, and thereafter nothing happened. This repeated itself every time I tried to register the trial. Finally I had to give up and register the trial from my Vista partition (Bootcamp on my Mac Pro). Then I went back into OSX, fired up Crossover Games, chose the SWG app, and was ready to play. Game is very stable, no problems whatsoever. Finally I could get around to play SWG after all this time. Thanks Codeweavers (obviously I'll convert the Crossover Games trial edition to a paid app once the trial period expires).

I am on Macbook Pro version 4.2 (2.5ghz) Leopard 10.5.4

I have also made SWG run via Crossover Games 7.0 in a Windows 2000 Bottle.
Sometimes I have the black faces on humans, and sometimes I do not, very oddly. I have no idea what I am doing when I do not get the black faces, seems like I am just doing what I always do. However it seems like the black do not appear when I leave the game and then log back in again... not sure.
However I have no intention of playing SWG via Crossover Games, since I have a problem. If I alter the sensitivity of the game cursor in the in-game options menu, the cursor becomes 'laggy' and moves extremely erratically, and makes gameplay completely impossible. If I try to set the cursor sensitivity back to way it was prior to altering it for the first time, it simply stays bugged, with no way to fix it so far, except reinstalling the entire game. But... this problem can be solved if I just leave the cursor sensitivity alone, and never touch it. Then the cursor moves perfectly fine. But here is the problem that prevents me from playing SWG in Crossover Games - When I use the mouse or trackpad to pan the camera around, or to move my characters direction when in full chase camera mode I get laggy, erratical movement, making gameplay get on your nerves, it would never be worth playing like this. When I use the direction keys to change my characters movement direction or change the camera view/angle, there is no problem whatsoever! It moves smoothly like it should. Even with the pre-nge control settings where you have a bit of cursor freedom in the middle of the screen in a small adjustable box, the problem persist. So far I have not been able to fix this problem, and neither has the Codeweavers support staff, despite a good effort to troubleshoot the problem. I don't know if any of you guys have the same problem, but if you do please let me know in this thread, and let me know your experience and tech specs.
So far, because of this, I have given up on SWG... for good I guess :(
Besides, Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic Online has just been comfirmed to be in developement a few days ago, so who cares if SWG works or not :D

Thank you in advance.

i had the same problem, but i re-installed it in a windows 98 bottle and now everything works perfectly. no black faces anymore! try it :)

I tried reinstalling under a win98 bottle and still got the black faces issue, as well as not being able to log in. When I click on the Log In button at the Character Selection screen, nothing happens.

The black face issue is actually a SWG issue, not a CrossOver issue. Buried deep in SOE's forums, they give a list of graphic cards that have some issues with the SWG graphic engines. Sadly, the cards that most Macs use are on that list. They point to an update installer to use, but since it's a PC program, it will not run. And this installer will not install in the WINE bottle either.

Fortunately, the last update has seemed to resolve at least my graphic card "black face" issue. If I'm on SWG for more than 4 hours, sometimes I see it come back, but it's getting rare.

updated to 8.0 and the black faces are gone!
