Empire at War Launches to a black screen

I recently purchased CrossOver to play Star Wars Empire at War. I purchased the game on GOG.com and I used a crosstie from Paul the Tall (I'll put a link at the bottom) to install the game into CrossOver. When I press play the Screen launches to a black screen and stays there until I press escape, is there something I did wrong in the installation or is there something further I have to download? I installed the three seperate offline game installers from GOG so that shouldn't be the problem.
My specs are
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Macintosh HD
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
Any help would be much appreciated.

I forgot to mention but I did get a runtime error at the end of the instillation process, the message saying it was installed correctly did pop up after however.

Are you on Catalina? Please try Crossover 19 first which has been released yesterday.

Ok tested it and I have at first had same black screen. Also with CXG19, however, I then installed directx modern games and then tried again. Black screen again. Then I went to " execute command" to create a log and selected the sweaw.exe in game data in the gog.com folder to create a log. But then somehow it ran the game. Then I tried to run the game using the shortcut, and that now also works. For both games.... really wierd.

updated the crosstie with the directx modern games trick as pre-dependency. When that's approved by the Crossover dev team, it will be available again as tie.

Hey Paul, I wanted to thank you for updating the Empire at War crosstie! It's now working for me and I am very appreciative of all the work you did to make this awesome game playable on Mac.
