Greetings,

Apparently, Crossover Linux 18.1.0 correctly supports Star Trek Online (STO) under Windows 7 or Windows 10 bottles...

I am able to run it but not to install it, because at installation it shows an error window saying: "Unable to register with games explorer"
But then, if I only run it, it needs to update the loader every time and its a very big update...

The back window says: "Error creating shortcut C:.......

And so, the bottle is created, the STO launcher is run, but it is not installed...
I have tried with Win7 and Win10 bottles with the same result. Also tried without creating desktop or quick launch icons but got the same result...
I even tried running Crossover as root, but it seems to dislike it...

Seems like an "easy to solve" problem... Any suggenstions (please?)
I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with Crossover 18.1.0

Common, It's been three days now...

Someone has got to know something about this situation...

Have you tried with older Crossover versions? I mean, this could be a regression, but I can't notice it because mine is already installed... I suggest you start to try older versions from 18.0.0 going backwards. If you are able to install it properly with an older version, you probably will be able to run it with 18.1.0. And if you are successful, please open a ticket giving details of the regression, informing which Crossover versions work and which don't.

Since the DX support end for WinXP, STO ceased to be supported until version 18.0.0
Of course I have tried the same installation under 18.0.0, but with the same result...

It looks easay, as if it were a permissions problem...

At the end of the installation the error arises, but with the last installation window, it offers to launch the program, and that is why I can run it, but the installation doesn't "remain"...

Hmmm... You are right. And the installer used to work in previous versions. I'm afraid your only solution is to open a ticket, then.... Have you tried to install and NOT running STO? It is the recommended way to install most software with Crossover. This happens because you "tell" Crossover that installation is finished this way. Running the program may make Crossover a bit "lost". Good luck!

So I just tried firing this up with an already installed Bottle that was installed as part of 18.1.0 test under STEAM. This was tested under Mac and it is working.
Bottle = Win7 64-Bit

Original Testing was done under the STEM Bottle, I have since modified the STO CrossTie and did a full reinstall through there. The current version of the test I am doing is through the Bottle created with the STO Cross-Tie. I know people in the other threads have been having some problems with this game, all I can say that under my environment (2 Mac Book Pros - Older Intel only graphics one, and new one with 2 graphics cards) it works. I do tend to do most of the testing on the older Mac to have most compatibility.
