Progress with Season 4 fixes?

Hi guys,

I'd just like to know the status of the fixes you've been working on. Lately I've found that loading the launcher takes a very long time, both for the initial login bit and the patching screen just after. This slow load occurs despite a lot of data transfer with the server (I've been watching it with iStat Menus), approximately 300-350 KB/s the whole time, with the process taking several minutes to load each launcher page.

It's definitely not a problem with my install of STO - I've tried running the exact same copy with a Windows computer and had no issues whatsoever. My bottle is configured as recommended in the other thread, with the flickering renderer and the registry modification, so it's not that.

I'd just like to know if anyone else is experiencing this frustratingly slow launcher performance and if the Codeweavers team are aware of it/already fixing it.

Thanks!

EDIT: I'm actually now finding that the second launcher page isn't even completing its load, so now I can't launch the game at all. See the attached screen shot. It stops at this point with the 'Engage' button not visible or clickable.

P.S. My Mac's specs, incase relevant, are as follows:

Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15.4" 1680 x 1050
Core i7 2.2 GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1GB
8 GB RAM
750 GB 5400 rpm HD
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1
Latest available build of CrossOver Games (10.1.1)

We are aware of the slow load time, both in the login screen and after you login, where the delightful Star Trek symbol informs you that it is "loading", forever (sometimes upwards of 20 minutes). We're working on it.

The behavior you describe in your edit is new - I'm performing a re-install, now (had wiped out my bottles for other testing) to see if I can reproduce.

Hm...not seeing the loading screen corruptions on this end. Did the Microsoft HTML Rendering Engine 7 install successfully in your STO bottle? You can check inside Manage Bottles, using the "Applications" tab to view the bottle contents.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your response! I just tried creating a new bottle using the CrossTie and copied my existing installation across. It seems that the issues I was having with the loader are gone now! In fact, it's even loading quickly as it should, so I guess my old bottle was incorrectly configured.

Good to hear that the other issues are being worked on and I look forward to the updates! :)

Marc
