Star Trek Online wont install and run properly under CrossOver Games 10

I have just installed CrossOver Games 10 on my new MacBook Air (the latest version). I downloaded the install files direct from Star Trek Online and went to install it using CrossOver Games just as I had done on my old MacBook Pro 17" with CrossOver 9.2 (until it stopped working) but before the STO install completes i receive a message "Unable to register with Games Explorer"

The install continues to what looks like completion and launches STO, I can get to the launcher to log in and start patching but if I quit STO it does not appear under the program menu in Crossover Games 10 and I cant launch it from the icon the install created.

Have I done something wrong? can someone please shed some light on this for me

Check what is in your bottle.

I have CX HTML Engine
Hotfix KB915865
IE 7
DX Runtime Modern
MSHTML 7
MS Internationalized Domain Names Mitigation APIs
MS National Language Support Downlevel APIs
MS VC++ 2005
MSXML Parser
MSXML Parser 3.0
msls31
STO itself

I used the old 9.0 C4P/Crosstie file and added MSHTML 7 to make it work with the recent patches (should be good in the new Crosstie setup file.

If you are missing any of them (besides STO), add them, and you should be good to go.

I looked for this software and can't find it where do I download this from?
9.0 C4P/Crosstie file

Hi,

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=6730

Cheers!

I've confirmed the above list is installed in my bottle for Star Trek Online and I am able to Patch and Load the game but after a few moments of sluggish walking around in Earth Space Dock the game crashes.

Any thoughts?

NOTE: I'm on an iMac 27" i5 Quad Core and the game has run very well under CXG 9.2 for the past year.

Hey Shawn,

Yes, I'm getting the same here. When I was in CXG 9.2 for the past year, it ran great on my MacBookPro with no problems whatsoever.

The moment STO changed their launcher in preparation of their 2 year anniversary maintenance patch/updater, that's the trouble all started. I did the workaround described above and upgraded CXG to 10.0 and put "all" in the bottle. Loading is woefully slow, and yes, it flickers violently all the way to the "engage" button.

One interesting thing you pointed out is that you crash when you are at Earth Spacedock. I crash there too, but I noticed, if you can beam to ship before you crash again (don't take any steps) you can run STO anywhere with no problem. When I come back to Earth Spacedock (which I don't do anymore because I want to play the game after a 40 minute load time) the game just disappears. I thought that that crash would be fixed after they changed the Spacedock, but it too crashes just the same.

I hope all gets resolved soon.
Joel

Hi Joel

I agree and have noticed that the loading time is insanely long where it used to be fairly quick.

Subsequent attempts on my part to get back into the game and beam out have failed. The game crashes just before it finishes loading and puts me in the game.

Question (for anyone), is reinstalling the game with CrossTie necessary if all the above additions and patches are manually installed into an existing bottle and STO installation?

-Shawn

UPDATE: I tried the game just now using the Lower Video Settings and was still unable to get into the game to beam out of ESD. :( I hope someone finds the missing file or setting to fix this soon. I'm out of ideas.
