Issues with Macs

I know the game is compatible with Macs, however, I don't know if the game is compatible with what versions all Macs possess. I have Tiger on a fully updated Macbook Pro, and the trial version alone refused to install. I ordered Spore: Galactic Edition, so do I have to buy the Leopard version for the game?
