The actual game installs, but when I try to run it Spore says that my graphics card is below their min specs and can't run, even though my card is listed as one that should work. Could this be fixed by messing around with the big list of hexadecimal IDs and graphics cards in /Data/Config/VideoCards.txt?

I originally installed it in Crossover, but It wouldn't run. It does run if you start it up in WINE 1.1.4. I also used the WINE with 3dmark patch. If crossover would update their wine version more often, more things would work.

Kevin, it only runs in Wine because Henri and Stefan have been feverishly working on it. Again, we do all of our work in Wine, first, and then bring a polished and stable version out as CrossOver. We're hoping to have a build fairly soon - one that will 'just work', and not requiring a lot of futzing as the Wine one does right now...

Do we know what fairly soon is? Days? Weeks? I hate to put you in that spot but I've got the money for the game burning a hole in my wallet and I don't wanna waste extra installations on WINE today and then a stable Crossover install tomorrow.

Days hopefully. We still have some worries with activation, but should have this working soon.

Have the same problem. Finaly I managed to get it in crossover and then it says error 2001. Can't play because graphics are not the right one, but I have the right ones!
Please somebody help.

Are you running it on Mac or Linux? Which graphics card do you have?

White iMac with Ati Radeon X1600 using Tiger

On a mac, I recommend to just use the "port" of the game(well, packed with Transgaming's cider). If you really want to use CrossOver to run it, you have to enable GLSL by setting the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/Direct3D to "enabled". However, CrossOver is currently making the driver complain on your card even on Leopard.

Never have I installed a game software on my Macbook, and before I always had non-macs, so my experience with macs is limited. I haven't installed the game yet, but the trial version wouldn't install after it downloaded. It said the game requires a Mac OSX 10.5.3 at least, and my Tiger version is updated to the fullest. Does this imply that I need the $120.00 Leopard version of Mac now and install that to be able to install the Spore game? I haven't tried it yet, installing the game, because it's being shipped right now, but if this is something to be fixed with a simple patch then I'd rather get it over with now than waste my time when I actually have the game in my hands. I'm also very anxious and want to play it immediately of course. Can you help me?
