Solaris + OpenSolaris Forum

I ran a quick and dirty petition on my blog asking people to respond in support of Crossover on Solaris. The respondents were positive and we also had one person express that they would find it useful in an enterprise deployment. These results aren't exactly scientific - my blog isn't particularly high traffic but it does show that there is steady support.

Thanks for your interest. Little by little we will get this to work. OpenSolaris may help to make cxoffice work. In the advocate center we are all collaborating on this with a possible approach or two.

Che has been kind enough to work in the Open Solaris community to help port Wine. The link to the Open Solaris effort is http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/desktop/communities/wine/ and it refers to ported wine versions at http://trisk.acm.jhu.edu/SFE/. Wine 1.1.2 has been compiled and posted as a package. I have not tried it yet.

Note it is for an i386 architecture so I think it will not work on 64 bit machines. In the past I could get it to work on a 32 bit laptop but not on a 64 bit desktop.

Also for users of OpenSolaris (Not Solaris 'X') Wine is available in the 'contrib' repository and can be easily installed using the Package Manager GUI
