I just installed SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition on Arch Linux with Crossover Games 7.2.2 and it ran just fine. I haven't yet installed the updates, though. Once I install the updates and retest it, I'll remove the tip as it's no longer needed.

This is not the experience I'm having on CrossOver Games 8.0.0 on MacOS, installed from a Sim City 4 Deluxe CD - it refuses to launch. Oddly, the Deluxe CD doesn't seem to have a separate Rush Hour installer -- I guess it's built in to the main install? I've also installed the official update, and it still won't launch. What kind of bottle are you using? When I try into a Win98 Bottle, I get a "Disable debugger and try again" message. Under XP, it just crashes.

I'll suspect the DRM is working correctly in linux, but not in the Mac
case due to some limitations with the Mac scsi driver.

In reference to this working on a Mac:
The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, will be unable to support you.
