The app cannot be tested because it's a 2-CD installation. When it asks you to eject the 1st CD and replace with the 2nd, you cannot eject the first.
Not wanting to hurt codeweaver's business, but you should probably be looking at transgaming's cedega for running games. Crossover is aimed at the application market, not gaming software.
Correct me if I'm wrong, that's my understanding anyway.
Hello,
The fourums here are Open and the db is Open for people
to submit what they care about be it a App or Game.
The purpose of putting games in the db is so people can
try there favorite game and see if it will work in CrossOver.
If they have a OpenGL or older DirectX game there is a good
chance it might work.
1)This saves them from having to buy two different products
2)Install and keep up with two products
3)And they will feel warm inside knowing there supporting OpenSource Software!

I would like to correct you - our goal is to make Wine
(and therefore CrossOver) run every application.
Right now we just don't think we could responsibly
support applications; we don't have the expertise
to credibly support people that want to run games.
But we sure as heck want them to run, and are thrilled
to have folks work towards that within C4.
Cheers,
Jer
You need a system with automounting (like supermount) to install SimCity 4. But when run, it says "Please unload the debugger and try again." and doesn't run.
hello there,
what was the system you had tested the installation? I want to try the installation of sim city 4 but I'm new with crossover office.
thanks
I'm playing with Cedega for this stuff, and I'm also working on getting SimCity 4 running. It's supposed to run perfectly under it, but I have an older binary that might be the problem.
Anyway, I have the same debugger bit going on. I've yet to figure that part out.
On the other hand, I know an easier way to get past that problem with the multiple CD-Rs, that might help you.
Originally when I tried to unmount the current disc, naturally, mount complained that it was in use. Little did I realize that my terminal was accessing the drive in order to unmount it, or something. Bizarre, but true. If you have fuser (install it if you don't), do the following:
fuser -k /media/cdrom0 (This will kill your terminal, but won't kill the emulation window (in GNOME, anyway).
umount /dev/cdrom0 (or whatever the location is for your system)
Insert Disc 2.
mount /dev/cdrom0 (same as above)
Hit "OK" on the "Please insert Disc 2" Windows dialog, and off you go. :)
Of course, I'm still having trouble getting it to launch. It detects emulation as being a debugger, apparently. I've seen comments about installing the SimCity 4 upgrade from their website.
I saw this in the other forum thread, and thought it might be helpful--I haven't tried it yet myself, and truthfully I feel intimidated by command strings.
"This is for Simcity 4, not Simcity 4 Deluxe.
Copied CD 1 and 2 to /.cxoffice/win98/drive_c/Simcity4
Then changed directory to Apps
The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, will be unable to support you.
And then started it from Run Windows Command and it worked, with sound and everything."
Can anyone else verify this (and maybe put it into common lingo)? I will try it tonight and see.
Apologies for the edit.
