SigmaPlot finally works under CrossOver Office, but it takes a bit of work to get it installed correctly. SigmaPlot 8 will install fine under CXO 3 if Office XP is installed first. I haven't tracked down exactly what is in the Office XP install that is required, but it is more than just the OLE95 install. However, SigmaPlot 8 will hang if run under CXO 3, so you have to upgrade CXO to version 4. Unfortunately, CXO 4 will not install SigmaPlot correctly so you cannot just install SigmaPlot under CXO 4. I believe the problem is in the way CXO 4 handles the registry. Furthermore, SigmaPlot 9 will not install under CXO 3 due do some problems with CXO 3 and the SigmaPlot 9 installer, so you have to install SigmaPlot 9 under CXO 4. But since CXO 4 will not get the SigmaPlot registry settings correct, you have to install SigmaPlot 8 under CXO 3 first.
Here is the procedure I used to get SigmaPlot working:
Install CXO 3
Install Office XP
Install SigmaPlot 8
Upgrade CXO 3 to CXO 4
- At this point SigmaPlot 8 will work with the following issues:
- The icons on the graph type toolbars will not display correctly.
- The vertical axis text will not display correctly.
To use SigmaPlot 9, just run the SigmaPlot 9 installer. The SigmaPlot 9 install will run into the following problems:
- There is a significant delay from the time you press the "Install SigmaPlot" menu item on the main install page. Do NOT click on that selection twice, just be patient.
- When the installer is copting files, it will give an error "Error -183: File already exists". Press OK and the installer will exit. Just click on the "Install SigmaPlot" menu item and the install will proceed to completion this time without errors.
The same display issues remain with SigmaPlot 9 as with SigmaPlot 8.
