Using this thread reference http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=6100
gave me a hint on getting this to run on 6.2.0
I installed the RailRoads! application into a new Windows XP bottle.
I also downloaded the 1.10 Fixpack for it. http://www.firaxis.com/support/support_detail.php?gameid=12&patch=1
You should also find a copy of the nocd version for 1.10 for RailRoads! (multiple mirrors) and copy that over the RailRoads.exe file that was installed.
I downloaded the MSXML3 SP7 from Microsoft and installed it into the bottle.
After I installed it I made sure that I did a regsvr32 on it.
MSXML 3 is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=28494391-052b-42ff-9674-f752bdca9582&displaylang=en
I also downloaded and installed the Direct X 9.0c (available from many mirrors) and installed it. You can then run DXDIAG from windows\system32\DXDIAG.exe to test the video and sound.
By using winecfg I made sure that the MSXML.DLL file was native and that the screen was 1024x768. I also set the following as the original post suggested:
SkipOpeningMovies = 1
VBlankSynch = 0
In the My Games\Settings.ini file
This is where I'm at thus far: The app starts, the music is clunky however the video works except for the onscreen dialogs. They're very grainy. I've posted two screenshots to show the effect. The visual graphics are fine, it's just the dialogs. Anybody have any ideas of where to try next to fix that?
