Runnable to the CD check

I tried to install Settlers 3 with Crossover Pro 8.0 on MacOS. The installation went without problems and the game starts. The only problem is the copy protection. The game prompts for the original cd, but won't accept it when inserted.
There seems to be 'no way' to remove that check.

Bye

Got it working with a little help from MYST.

The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the

Do not overwrite files.
Then start the game. Tutorial and Single player scenario seem to work. The campaign won't work.

I meant that by "help from MYST".
Bluebyte itself released a WindowsXP-fix.

A pity that the stupid copy protection hinders the execution of the game for original cds. :-/

The WinXP-fix is just a WindowsXP fix - it doesn't remove the cd check, and because of that: it didn't help me in solving the problem.

"help from MYST" helps getting singleplayer working, but not multiplayer, because it recognizes the game as a different version than 1.60...

I think that the problem, that does not happen on Linux, comes from OSX's splitting of the two CD-sessions of the Settlers-CDs. So crossover/wine sees the data part of the CD as an own CD, and audio part as a separate CD... No surprise that Settlers3 cannot recognize the CD as it's own.
Unfortunately, I haven't found anything about changing that behavior...

Yeej, also got the singleplayer also work.

It crahes still at some options like campaign, but single player scenario, works, totural works. but when starting the campaign i get an error: structured exception c0000005 accured at 0x004a67d7. read from c failed. Wierd though because the first time i tried it did work. I quited the game and tried again and got that error. Maybe because i tried to to install that 1.60 patch....anyway, i rate it thusfar silver because gameplay works, but multiplayer doesn`t. Winehq however rates it gold, but they have a newer wineversion, so maybe in crossover Games 8 it might work.

For multiplayer you need directplay. Install the DirectX runtime.

I've got the original discs and registration number, but I still can't get this to work on OS X with Crossover Games.

I followed the advice above,

but when I launch the game I get a black screen until I mouse click, and then the UI appears. Then, to click on any of the buttons, I have to click about 10 pixels above where the button is. All incredibly buggy, and not really worthy of a Silver Medal IMHO.

Finally, when I try to launch a game and it prompts me for my registration key, the UI doesn't accept any keystrokes, so I am unable to type anything in. This means the game is still completely unplayable for me.

Follow these instructions: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3931
