SII doesn't recognize the inserted disc...

Hello,
I've installed successfully Settlers 2: 10th Anniversary from my CD. However, when I launch it, even if the original CD is in my drive, the game asks for it at startup (DAMNED COPY PROTECTIONS).
Anyone knows how to make it run?

Regards,
Gam.

Hi,

My advice to you is to go and have a read of this title's AppDB
entry over at WineHQ...you can see this here ;

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=3618

I see the Czech version of the title has been widely tested using
wine releases that are close to what crossover is currently using
in COG-8.0 -- perhaps some of the info there can guide you with this?

Cheers!

Hello Don,
thanks for your help!
I moved forward. I found a patch to remove the CD check at startup. The game launches but I got no video (a white screen only) but audio.
Do you know what to do to fix the video?

I'm sorry but I'm new with CrossOver...

Cheers,
Gam

Umm....a bit hard, as you haven't mentioned your platform/OS/videocard setup,
but at a guess I think you're running Mac? ...anyhow...regardless of OS, you
could try installing directx runtime into the same bottle (start cxinstallwizard,
check 'show all service packs and dependencies' ... directx will be in the list)

Also. you might look at this page which details registry entries that sometimes
fix things when you see a white-screen on Mac ;

http://www.screencast.com/users/paulthetall/folders/Default/media/f33b4ed6-b17f-484e-8aa7-fa4428805704

Note: in that screenshot, useGLSL is set to disabled, you might need to enable it.

I'm actually a linux person, so I can only throw you advice here...but if anything
confuses you here, be sure to post back and I'll help if I can ;)

Hello Don,
really thank you for helping me!

Indeed, I'm running it on a Mac, using 10.5.8.

When I run the install software, i don't see DirectX there... Can I just download it from Microsoft website?
I don't have the Direct3D folder in the registry of my bottle.

Cheers,
Gam.

Edit: For a strange reason, now the game launches normally!
Still some problems (see my other thread)
