The direct2drive version is a 3.3gb downloadable zip file. You need to unpack this
zip file before beginning the installation -- it will unpack into it's own directory
named "SEGA Rally Revo" -- use setup.exe in this directory to install the game.
This title requires/bundles with .NET 2.0 and also depends on windows media player 7+
to be present/installed in the bottle before installation, or the installer will
complain and exit. For this, I created a new winxp bottle in cxgames, archived this
bottle and restored it into the crossover standard environment, installed .NET2.0 &
wmp9 (pulls in other deps including IE6) before archiving the bottle again, and finally
restoring this prepared bottle back into the cxgames environment.
Game also requires Directx Runtime Modern to be installed into the same bottle - this
was done in cxgames -after- the above preparation work was completed.
Game seemingly installs correctly if the above procedures are followed. The direct2drive
version uses a securom based online registration/activation process which did complete
successfully.
Game attempts to start - credits screen pops up, followed by the launcher screen (both
hardcoded to 640x480 it seems) - intro videos play, with the message "press any button"
appearing, which to me infers a button on my gamepad, however it doesn't seem like the
game recognizes the gamepad at all -- hitting a keyboard key instead results in an
instant wine crash....
Cheers!
