HowTo: Running Runes of Magic under Linux with Crossover Games

1. Be sure you have a Geforce 8800gt or higher (ATI and Lower Nvidia cards not working)

2. Install the proprietary nvidia driver.

3. Download Runes of Magic from publishers website: http://www.runesofmagic.com

4. Create a new bottle and name it RoM, Runes of Magic etc.

5. Install Runes of Magic.

6. Launch the Runes of Magic Launcher (starting the patching process)

7. Play and have fun :)****

For never versions of RoM you need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package or nothing will show up when you click lanuch.

Tested and confirmed on Linux with CXG 9.2.1 (bottle included vcrun2005, DX9, and corefonts). The game launches and plays as expected.

Hardware: AMD 6400+ X2, nVidia 260GTX
Kernel: 2.6.37 x86_64
Distribution: openSUSE 11.3 64 bit
nVidia driver: 260.19.29

Slight modification of the install requirements. To install RoM and have it auto-update correctly, make sure you have installed:

  • vcrun2005
  • DX9
  • corefonts
  • IE6 as a minimum, works better with IE7

Without IE, the RoM Launcher will crash.
