Was able to make a new RM8 file and put two people in it, save, quit and restart and then import a GEDCOM of 370 people downloaded from WikiTree, and merged a couple of duplicates.

Running RM8 Beta on 64 bit Linux MX-19 distribution on a Lenovo Thinkpad X270. Sometimes Rootsmagic is a bit sluggish, and if I try to sync with my Ancestry account it freezes (but this may be specific to me, others report success with Ancestry and mine freezes in both RM7 stable and beta RM8 - happens when I click Sign-On to Ancestry, so it think it is settings related to my account - if I run RM7 stable on Windows 10 I have no problem - but RM8 beta also freezes running on Windows 10).

Dont know where the problems lie yet - have to learn to tweak bottles and saved configuration settings (maybe Registry problems).

on my Thinkpad X270 with Crossover 21.1.0 on Debian Buster based MX-Linux 19 version Patito Feo
This includes working online with Ancestry TreeShare to my Ancestry account, downloading media, trees, sources and new people, etc.
It is a lot more sluggish than I would like, but for what I'm doing it is worth it, as it gives me my data, sources and media in Linux, not Windows
I consulted the WineHQ App DB and some questions to Codeweaver Tech support, but its really murky to me what got tweaked right to do this much.

The underlying database is indeed SQLite, and the media files are stored separately with whatever names or URLs were used on Ancestry or edited in RootsMagic. Sometimes the URLs for documents and photos change without notice, so it is better to download one's own copy of anything you care about.
If I knew how to post these notes as TIPS, I would do it, but even as a 'better tester' and advocate for RootsMagic, I don't seem to have the ability to do that yet.

Outstanding! I'm on Fedora 35 x64 with the same version of Crossover, but I'm unable to get RM8 to actually open; . It will install fine on any bottle I try, but RM8 crashes out on startup. What base OS are you using for a bottle? What RM8 are you using... the RTM or a post-release update?
