Rome: Total War - Gold Edition Forum

I just did a fresh install. The splash screen comes up. The splash screens finish, close and then nothing else comes up.

I've run debug. the only error I could capture was:

err:ddraw:IDirectDrawImpl_QueryInterface (0x20f188) The App is requesting a D3D device, but a non-OpenGL surface type was choosen. Prepare for trouble!

I also installed DirectX from the install choices from Codeweavers.

any ideas how to get this to run?

Oh yea.. I am Crossover Games 9.1.0

The only thing I can think of to try, is setting directdrawrenderer
to opengl in the windows registry...

REGEDIT4                                                                        

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]                                      
"DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl"

You can cut&paste the above into a plaintext editor and save the file
as ddr-opengl.reg -- then you can start regedit on the bottle in question
and import the file to propagate the registry with the required keys..

It may not help any, but it is worth trying. Post back if you've any
further queries...
