RTK XI not installing at all

Hi!

I bought the downloadable version of RTK XI, but all I get is a small file that's supposed to download the actual game. CrossOver Games says it has been Installing Other games for over an hour now, and I don't see any file anywhere that would seem like the game application. Can someone who bought it the same way help me? How did you install it? I will keep asking on the Support Ticket System, but I thought someone here might know the solution to my problem.

Thanks!

Jean-Philippe

Hey Jean-Philippe. I had the same problem as you did with the downloaded version of the game, so I had to get the CD version of the game in order to play. Here is a link to the other thread in this forum where I first posted about this issue:

I'm happy that Koei released a PC version of this game, but I'm disappointed that the only format this PC version was released in for the US was a download that had some protection mechanism which made it not work for Linux in even an unsupported way. At this time I think the only option is to find the CD version as far as I am aware, but if you find anything else about getting this download version working then please post about it here. The last time I looked into this was quite a while back, so there may be some other information available to help with this problem.

Hi Joshua,

Well, as I didn't know where I could get the CD version, I opted out for another solution this morning: downloading the full file on the PC at my job and burning it on a DVD. That proved to be quite efficient.

Now, the game seems to install correctly in CrossOver Games. But when I start the game, I just get a window with all sorts of HTML code, and that's all. Do you have any idea about what I might do at that point?

Thanks for answering so fast, I wondered if anyone would see my message!

That's interesting... I have never gotten that type of error. Now that the new beta version is out of CrossOver I need to test the game out and see if the install process has changed in any way from the previous times I've installed, but I haven't done so yet because I seem to have misplaced the game. Once I find it I'll go through the install again and post my results.

From what it sounds like (without testing myself), you are having problems related to the DRM that is found on the downloadable version of the game. From what I remember (back when I initially tried installing that version) I also had some similar problem, but it's been such a long time that I don't remember the exact problems I had. Whatever it was, I remember quickly deciding it was not going to work out and I went looking for the CD version (which was only available from the EU as far as I know).
