My experience was much the same as Joshua's. To get graphics to display correctly, you must change the resolution in options once after starting the game. However, movies don't play and there isn't any sound.

The sound issue in this game is already known in wine, hope they will fix this later, untill then you can play without a sound. There is a music solution:
kvsExtractor allows you to extract the music to ogg files. You can then play them in the background with a standard music player.

Thanks for the link so we can get the sound files out of this game! It's one of the reasons why these games have been so fun for me over the years.
