Sound doesn't work on any version (demo, download or physical) I have tested. I have only done basic testing and not changed any configuration settings for either the game or Crossover yet, but I'll be looking into the problem and posting more information later.

EDIT: This issue is most likely related to the fact that I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with PulseAudio (not a Crossover/wine issue). I'll post more details on what is needed to get around this problem (or a link that gives that info) later.

This may hold true for some previous versions, but I can say that in the most recent version of CrossOver Games (9.1.0rc4) running on Ubuntu 10.04 sound works well. Occasionally I've had problems with sound, but restarting the game resolves the issue.

One issue that can cause the game to hang (and requires you to restart the application) is when certain special events happen in the game while sound is in a non-working state. Ususally if the sound stops working during gameplay it doesn't immediately cause a crash and you can continue playing without it affecting anything else. But if something happens in-game (like some ruler dies, etc.) which has its own special song it attempts to play for a certain period of time, then the game hangs as if it is waiting for that audio to finish. It never stops waiting since the audio never plays, and you are stuck looking at the screen without any option other than closing out the window.
