Please Help!

I used the CrossOver demo to install RCT and it seemed to go fine. But when I tried to open the game, a box popped up that said "GSK Exception Trapper. Exception Raised- Access Violation" and it would not open. If anyone else has had this same problem and/or knows how to fix this, please let me know. Thanks.

It does help if you include details of your OS and such,
but....this might be something to do with the bottle
profile you chose at install time ; I would suggest
deleting the bottle you've already installed to,
and then reinstalling the game into a new bottle
using the win98 profile - let us know if this
fixes things for you.

I'm having the same issue. I've installed it in a Win98 bottle and used the patch. But I still get the same error. I have Mac OS X ver.10.5.7.

I have the same problem. I'm using Crossover 8.0, and running on Mac OS X 10.6.1, and it shows "GSK Exception Trapper. Exception Raised- Access Violation" (I've already installed the patch). Please help!

i have the same "access violation" message. even after changing the bottle to a win98. i downloaded the patch but when i tried to install it i got this error message. "unable to update files: unrecognized game version, wrong language, or game files are corrupted." i have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it still happens.

This may be of help/interest...see;

Cheers!

Edit: Oops, forgot to mention, if the above does work, you'll
probably need switch to the winxp profile.

Don,
What do I do with that mess? What should I be looking at?

Do you have the UK or US version of the game? Then read 'that
mess' as you put it, particularly the howto, and about the fact
that there are official patches for the game that appear to get
it working under wine. Whether that holds true for crossover, I
cannot say (I don't have this title) -- what I posted was a link
to some information that might be another avenue for owners of
this game to look at and try.

I cannot verify the information, but to clarify it for you;

Go to www.atari.com and then to the rollercoaster tycoon page there.

See if there is an official patch for the game in your language and
download it.

Follow the directions in the howto on the page I linked to at WineHQ
on how to install the official patch (the paths will be different for
crossover-games, but if you need help with that post back here)...but,
from the howto, the crossover-games procedure will be...

Install the game into it's own bottle

Copy the official patch into the bottle you installed rollercoaster tycoon
into (it looks like the patch must be in the same directory in the bottle
that contains the rct.exe file)

Start cxsetup, highlight the bottle you installed rollercoaster tycoon into,
then click =>configure=>control panel=>run (to run a command in the bottle)

Select the official patch copied above using the 'Browse' button then click
=>open=>run -- that should apply the official patch.

Now try running the game again

Be mindful there are several different versions of this title, and
whether it will work or not sill depend on exactly which version you have.

If you don't have a display capable of 4:3 aspect screen resolutions (640x480
or 800x600), you will have to enable 'Emulate a virtual desktop' in winecfg.

Thanks for you trouble, man. Emulating the virtual desktop worked just fine! It runs a little slow, but it works.

i may be the slow one of the group, but where is "cxsetup?" i need to find that before i go through the rest of those steps. please and thank you.

Exact path will depend on what OS you are using, and what install options
you used....however, you can read about cxsetup in the online docs;

linux;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/docs/crossover-games-linux/officesetup

The Mac uses the bottle manager to the same ends;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/docs/crossover-games-mac/officesetup

Hope this helps....

I installed the patch into the bottle but nothing..

I have the expansion and the orginal

I have Loopy Landscapes that includes Corkscrew follies and installed that in the same bottle, I got real close, cause it actually starting loading the game but then the game give me the error trapper, error unknown: unknown drive

I really need some help

BTW if it matters I running CrossOver 8.0 with a intel Mac Mini, and I do have a windows pc available if I need any files from it being installed

I need this game to run

Hi,

Did you follow all the instructions I mentioned,
including the emulated desktop setting? Also, in what
order are you installing things?..sometimes that matters,..

Cheers!

Hey Don, the patch worked perfectly. Thanks!
I do, however, have one issue. Whenever I try to save, the game freezes up, and I have to force quit.
I'm on a (Mid-2009) MacBook 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running Snow Leopard.
